A meeting held on the evening of Monday, October 1, by the committee in charge of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ogun state was disrupted by gunshots from suspected hoodlums.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the meeting between the committee and the aspirants was held at the MITROS Residence and Gateway Annex, Ibara.
The meeting, which was scheduled to start by 10.00pm, commenced a bit late and was attended by all the six aspirants, the party chairman in the state, Chief Derin Adebiyi among others.
Tinubu insists Ali Magashi, who chaired the election committee, sasid:
I thought it is wise for us to hold this meeting. We are supposed to be here yesterday (Sunday), but could not do so due to logistics. You are all from Ogun state. We believe that somebody will emerge as the party’s governorship candidate and we believe other contenders will support whoever emerges. Journalists were, however, asked to leave the venue of the meeting so the committee could have a closed-door session with the aspirants.
According to report, there was a clash between two aspirants and policemen were invited to the venue of the meeting.
An arrest was said to have been made, after which suspected hoodlums shouting “Who is Dapo Abiodun?” stormed the venue and fired a shot. The committee was forced to cancel the meeting due to the development.
