A woman, Maimuna Mamman, and her son, Husseini Mohammadu, were on Wednesday remanded in police custody over the alleged killing of one Safiya Abubarka. Inspector James Odaudu, the Prosecutor, told the court that the deceased, a resident of Abba Akere, Eleyin Village, Omu-Aran, Kwara state, left home on August 8 to fetch firewood from a bush and never returned. The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, popularly known as Public Private Participation, says Lagos State has now become one of the dirtiest cities in the world. The Police Command Katsina State have arrested 80-year-old herbalist, Ussaini Musa, and two others for allegedly plucking out the eyes of a police sergeant in Jos, Plateau State, as part of items to make an invincible jacket. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s decision to ban the use of smartphones inside polling cubicles has been condemned by deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, who described the move as unacceptable and unconstitutional. Four persons including a blind man and an 11-year-old boy have reportedly drowned as at least six local government areas in Delta State have been affected by the terrible flood.
